FAQs
Q: Are there direct flights to Antigua and what is the average flying time?
A: Yes there are direct flights from the US and from the UK. The flight time from New York is about 4.30 hrs. From London it’s about 8 hrs to Antigua and 7 hrs on the way back.
Q: What’s the transfer time to Harbour Hill from the airport?
A: About 20-30 minutes.
Q: When is the best time to visit the island?
A: Antigua is warm the whole year round. The high season is between December and May. That’s when all the restaurants and bars are open, all the big boats are there and English Harbour is at its busiest. If you want to be at the centre of a lot of activities, that’s the time to go. After May the island is a lot quieter. However more and more restaurants are now staying open till later in the summer as visitors discover the pleasures of Antigua during the summer. If you want to have the beach to yourself, that’s the time to go! There are also events happening during the summer like the Carnival in early August. Like Florida and the rest of the Caribbean, late summer and early autumn can bring a higher risk of hurricanes although Antigua hasn’t had one for a number of years.
Q: Do we need to rent a car?
A: No. At Harbour Hill it’s not essential as the beach, restaurants and shops are all within walking distance. However you probably will get much more out of your vacation if you rent a car as there is a lot to explore and see around the island. There are of course also buses and taxis.
Q: Do we need to bring towels or linen?
A: No you’ll find everything at Harbour Hill.
Q: Will the house be clean & fresh when we arrive and during our stay?
A: Absolutely. Harbour Hill is a beautiful home and we strive to keep it that way. There is a maid permanently employed at Harbour Hill and she sees that the house is kept in immaculate condition at all times. She will be there 5 days a week when you are there and also look after your laundry. We also have a very stringent maintenance program to keep the house looking and feeling new. This includes regular re-painting and redecoration.
Q: What about children?
A: Children are welcome from 8 years of age.
Q: Do you allow pets?
A: Unfortunately not.
Q: What entertainment is there at the house?
A: We have Cable TV with a broad selection of US channels including film & sport channels. Music is supplied by a Bose sound system with an iTunes dock. Use our iPod with over 2000 titles in many different music styles or just plug in your own. In the study we have an ever growing library of books, CDs & DVDs. We also have a chess set and a number of board games. For anyone keen on looking at the night sky there is a telescope. If you bring along a laptop we have a Wi-Fi and a Printer. If you want to stay fit then make use of our brand new air conditioned Gym with a number of different work-out machines and weights. Alternatively just flop in the pool!
Q: Is there a specific changeover day?
A: No we are quite flexible about when you can arrive.
